A new design by Phoenix designer Rachel Stokes has captured the imagination of the automotive community with its bold, yet minimalist lines and bold lines that echo the look of its namesake.
Stokes, a senior partner at Detroit-based design firm TurnStyle, is creating a line of high-quality and affordable handbags that are perfect for everyday wear.
“I want to make sure that the people who see the car are going to feel as though they’re on the road,” Stokes said in a statement.
“If you can get a car to feel like it’s not just for the car, but also for the person in the car or people around them, then that’s a good thing.”
The concept is meant to be more accessible than traditional handbags.
While many brands are looking to capitalize on the trend toward luxury car-centric brands like BMW and Mercedes, Stokes’ collection focuses on a range of affordable, high-performance luxury items.
It’s not a traditional handbag, but it does have a few basics that will appeal to everyone.
“There’s not much to say that I didn’t feel like a little girl on a rainy day,” Stoke said.
“It’s a fun collection to get in the mood for.”
Stokes plans to release a limited run of 500 pieces in early 2018 and expects to open stores in New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Boston by spring 2019.
